Claire Broxton is Assistant Headteacher at Stowmarket High school currently responsible for curriculum development and is the Careers Lead. She holds a Masters Degree in Education and has a wide range of experience in curriculum development across upper and secondary schools as well as sixth form colleges. Claire is involved in developing the new Inspirational Futures programme and has begun developing a method to track pupil engagement with the employers and students’ employability skills.
The school has established a new Inspirational Futures programme, designed to engage and enthuse our students on their journey through career discovery. Who do they want to be, what do they want to do, how will they make a difference? Ultimately what will make them happy, employable and informed?
Part of this programme is to develop an application that will enable them to reflect on experiences with employment and higher education. It will enable them to think about what skills sets they need to progress into the world of work, do they have these skills and what do they need to do to develop them. We are aiming to change the language of our curriculum to make better links to the world of work in what we are teaching and to help our students recognise what skills they are developing and how that will lead to a brighter future.
